Archaeology
The Sutherland area is full of relics from 2000 and more years ago. There are remains of some brochs (defensive towers) and numerous hut circles (looking like small grassy mounds). A small interpretation centre in Lairg at Ferry Croft has more detail. Brochs can be visited at Sallachy (on the opposite side of the loch through Lairg) and Dun Dornaigil (through Altnaharra under Ben Hope). There is a small broch (just a stone mound) on the Estate at Dalchork farm near Tirrybank on the way to Lairg.
