Location
Shinness Lodge is 7 miles from Lairg on the A 838 to Laxford Bridge and Durness
Leave Lairg on the A836 Lairg to Tongue road.
Turn left onto the A838 towards Scourie and Durness after 2 miles.
Then travel 4 miles, keeping on the main road close to the loch, to the small signpost to the right to West Shinness.
Turn right up the hill and the drive to the Lodge is 200 yards on the right at the Keeper's Cottage.
By car from Inverness Airport-
1 1/2 hours, 65 miles; and Inverness 1 hour (55 miles)
Follow the A96 towards Inverness and turn onto the A9 north towards Wick. Follow the A9 over the Kessock Bridge and the Cromarty Firth Bridge until you reach Alness where you can fork onto the B9176 'Struie Road' to Bonar Bridge (direct route) - a short cut over the hill with good views. Join the A836 to Bonar Bridge and turn left after the Bridge (keeping on A836) to Lairg.
